Well, you clicked on the link, I guess I should introduce myself. I’m Matt Neighbors, pleased to meet you. I could make this space a big ol’ list of all
the things I like and what makes me who I am, but that’s not really what this
is about, and frankly it wouldn't convince you to listen to me anyway. I’m not a preacher (yet…),
I don’t have seminary degrees, and I’m not an old-timer who’s traveled the
world and seen all there is to see. All
I am is a guy who believes completely and totally in the fact that the Bible is
true, and I think that if you believe the same way then that should change the way you live your life.
All you really need to know about me from an introductory standpoint is
that I have a major burden for youth, especially those kids who are just about
ready to leave high school. I see, by
and large, a generation that doesn’t have much of a foundation, and my
generation and the parents’ generation is to blame for it. We don’t encourage kids to ask hard
questions, to try to poke holes in their faith, to constantly press to know
more about the Bible.
What you will not see here
are rants, buzzfeed-style lists designed to get clicks, and ego-surfing. I have lots of opinions about culture, truth,
art, etc (really, who doesn’t?), but this isn’t the time or place for it. My dream here is to constantly present the
truth of the Word in such a way that I’m not really part of the picture. I want any disagreement or questions to
pertain to the Bible itself, and not to my own ideology or morality. I don’t want to spoon-feed people answers, I
want to teach them how to read the Bible so they can find truth for
themselves. Afterall, “Thy Word is
truth” (John 17:17), and it doesn’t really need much of my help.
So, that’s the goal here. My
mission is to help people get from the basic milk of the Gospel into the meat
and potatoes of Scriptural truth (yeah, you see what I did there). The house that’s built with a firm foundation
won’t crumble when exposed to the storms of life. While I’m writing with a predominate focus on
the high school and college crowd, but I hope that anyone can learn
something. I know I learn things every time I get around to writing them down.
